Lohri Festival

Lohri is the harvest festival celebrated in northern India with great joy. The festival marks the end of winter and the onset of the spring season. Lohri is observed as the beginning of the New Year in the state of Punjab. The people and children dress in new attire on this day. The celebration starts by lighting a bonfire .People enjoy the festivity by dancing and singing around the fire. They also eat Jaggery, Gachak, peanuts, til laddu, etc while dancing. The elder members of the families give blessings and gifts to the younger ones.People worship Sun, fire, and earth to seek blessing and thank for a good harvest.
